The perfect gift

One day I received this amazing gift and it had very simple wrapping with just paper and a bow.So I thought to myself,it’s not my birthday or Christmas. So I was very excited, but at the same time very cautious to open this gift. So I gathered up enough courage, and I finally opened it. So after tearing the gift open, I started digging and digging and I didn’t see a gift. So you could only imagine my frustration. I had just received this gift, only to discover there isn’t any gift. I thought to myself  “this sucks.” So I decided to throw out this gift because it was just an empty box. So as I was getting ready to throw this box away when a card fell out of the box. I then picked up the card and dusted the dirt off. So when I read the card it said,”you’re forgiven”Love always ,

Jesus Christ.

I thought to myself,” wow, now that’s a gift. “So on that day I learned a very important lesson. And that is, never judge a book, or a present by its cover.Remember, it’s the thought that counts.

A winters day

On this very cold miserable, and blustery day, you quickly awaken out of dead sleep, from sounds of violent rain pounding viciously against the trees, making them shake and bend to the point of breaking without even breaking. And, at the same time, rain is painting your windows with a message of fury.

But how quickly that’s forgotten when the smells from the rain start to fill your nose with childhood memories. The kind that reminded you of the rainy days you would stay home from school, and help with baking cookies.

So you go down to the kitchen to bake some chocolate chip cookies and as you’re waiting for your cookies to bake you start to contemplate whether or not to call out sick. But from how the weather is sounds outside makes your decision much easier, well also the smell of the cookies baking.

Now that your cookies are done, you head back up to your room.So as you’re sitting on the edge of your bed, reading your favorite book, and eating your fresh baked  cookies.

Then from out of nowhere without warning, you hear rain tires passing by sounding like thunder, followed by a loud crash BOOOMMM !! Nearly shaking your house off its foundation. With sheer panic you quickly run to the window, nearly dropping you cookies. You frantically wipe the fog and dew cover your window with your hands .

And you couldn’t believe what appeared before your eyes,I mean first you see a crowd of people young and old gathering on the wet streets.

Then you saw some of the people have their heads down  in disbelief while others, are screaming their lungs out. And the rest are on their cell phones taking pictures and others are making frantic calls.

Then you hear the sounds of sirens slowly approaching along with the raging sounds of thunder in the background as lightning lights up the dusk sky with fire. You tell yourself wow!!What a change of event. I mean all you wanted was to call out sick, and make use of this rainy day. That’s when you heard somebody yell”CUT””good job everybody, that’s all for today.

My Dad my Hero

My Dad my hero

Dad I just wanted to say I love and admire you. I remember when I was a young boy, I would often knock on the door of your office and you would always say come in. I’d enter the room and ask “Dad what are you doing?” and your response would always be” Im doing some writing.”
Sometimes I’d would just sit in a chair and watch you work or I would go to my room and write. Even though my writing didn’t make sense at the time,It didn’t matter because I just wanted to be exactly like you. Now look at me years later my writing not only make sense but it has purpose. No matter how old I get,my Dad will always be my Hero.

Thanks,
Your son Mark
