Not in my shoes

They say the best way to get to know someone

is to walk a mile in their shoes.

Some of us have the same shoe size,

but lead different lives.

Walking in their shoes may take many miles

or even a lifetime .

This will be painful at times,

but without putting their shoes on,

we can’t say

“Oh we understand what you are going through.”

So till we come out of our comfort zone

and put their shoes on,

put them on our shoulders,

and let them guide us.

Then by doing this,

we’ll have a greater perspective

on their struggles.

Then we can say,

“we understand what you’re going through.”

At the end of this journey ,

may we have a better

and much deeper appreciation for that person .

When you take time to get to know someone,

you actually get to know ourselves .

Remember everyone has a story to tell,

we just need to open their book, and read it.

New discoveries

Everyone has a story to tell,
so it’s up to us
to open their book and read it.

Anyone can open a book, and read
but it takes discipline to get pass the cover .

When we finally stop being selfish
and read their story, that’s when we realize
that have more in common
then we ever could’ve imagined.

My story

My feelings use to be bottled in
so I didn’t know where to begin.
I picked up a pen and let my story begin.

Do I write because I’m right
or for others delight .

Do I write out of fright
or do I write because there is enough light.
If my beats aren’t tight
Lord let my words still take flight.

I’m not a fighter I’m a writer.
That’s why I will only fight you on paper
where it’s much safer.
I will always fight for what I believe in.

So to all my haters,complainers,
intimidators,and all debaters.
This will never stop me
because God’s spirit is within me.

May the words I now utter
melt hearts like butter.
I’m not sure where this might go,
but I’ll keep writing,
and watch it grow.

Broken Pictures

Broken pictures ,
isn’t just throwing a picture frame
against the wall.

Broken pictures happen,
when you are hurt by someone .
Even if its on purpose or not,
the picture is still broken.

Broken pictures happen
when dreams are shattered
but could be fixed,
by retaking the same picture ,
but with new lenses meaning your eyes .

It may require a lot of film
“film”meaning patience.
So the picture you thought you’d lost,
will have a new look.

Hateful words

When you speak hateful words,
its like us losing a coin
in a wishing well.
You can’t get it the coin back,
but only wish you could.

Now all that’s left,is regret.
Your lost coin, like the last word
you’ll  ever speak to someone.
So spend your words wisely,
and forgive,

Our lives

Our lives are precious vases displayed on mantels.
So with the softest scream
or the slightest yell,
the vase can fall
and all that’s inside
are shattered on the floor.

But only God
can pick up the pieces
and put back what was shattered.
